Tourism gets digital. Are you ready?
From smart booking systems and AI-powered itineraries to immersive digital storytelling, the way we experience and manage destinations is being transformed at a pace few could have predicted even five years ago. Digital tools are no longer “nice to have.” They are central to competitiveness, resilience, and sustainability.
And yet, many tourism departments and professionals across Europe are still navigating this transition without a clear map.
That’s where you come in.
The Sustainable Tourism Partnership of the Urban Agenda for the EU has launched a dedicated survey on digital competences in tourism, open until 15 June 2025. It’s designed to take the pulse of the sector directly from those shaping it on the ground. We invite local and regional tourism authorities, destination managers, tourism professionals, and digital service providers to share their perspectives.
Why your voice matters
Your insights will help us:
- Identify where digital upskilling is most urgently needed
- Highlight the tools and technologies with the greatest practical potential
- Design support that is tailored, relevant, and immediately useful
Tourism is one of Europe’s most dynamic and diverse sectors but also one of the most fragmented. This is a unique opportunity to bring your experience into a wider European conversation and help shape future support that reflects real-world needs.
Who should respond?
We welcome contributions from across the tourism ecosystem:
- Local authorities and tourism departments
- Destination management organisations (DMOs)
- Tour operators, guides, and accommodation providers
- Cultural and environmental tourism actors
- Tech and innovation providers in the tourism space
- Policy developers, educators, and training experts
Whether you’re digitally advanced or just starting out, your input counts.
What will happen with the results?
Your responses will directly inform the creation of a toolkit to help destinations and tourism professionals navigate the digital shift.
