From policy to practice: a landscape of outputs from the Urban Agenda Partnerships

Curious about what the Urban Agenda for the EU Partnerships have produced in practice?
An initial mapping now offers a clear overview of the diverse types of outputs produced by the Thematic Partnerships. This curated collection highlights practical resources available to support initiatives across various fields of sustainable urban development.

What types of outputs have been developed?

The Urban Agenda for the EU has analysed the key outputs developed by various Thematic Partnerships. The aim was to identify and categorise these outputs, resulting in the mapping of over 30 different typologies. These have been organised and visualised on a dedicated Miro board.

The mapping does not include all the outputs released by the different Thematic Partnerships but aims to showcase, through concrete examples, the different types of results generated (e.g.: policy brief, policy mapping, feasibility study, toolkit, podcast, etc.).

Each output is presented as an individual card featuring:

  • A brief description
  • The targeted governance level (local, regional, or national)
  • The Urban Agenda pillar(s) the output addresses
  • An explanation of how it can be useful
  • A direct link to the full document or tool for deeper exploration

Who is this collection for?

This collection is designed for a wide range of users, including:

  • Members of the Urban Agenda Partnerships
  • Local, regional, and national authorities
  • Urban stakeholders and practitioners

It is particularly useful for those looking to:

  • Find inspiration or references for ongoing or future work
  • Access useful operational and methodological tools to support initiatives in various fields related to sustainable urban development
An example

For instance, the Circular Economy Partnership developed a Funding Guide that maps available funding instruments and financial mechanisms. It supports cities in implementing urban initiatives, especially in areas such as climate adaptation. The guide is a valuable resource for local decision-makers and urban developers, helping them identify, navigate, and combine different funding sources for their climate adaptation efforts and beyond.

Explore the mapping

This mapping exercise is part of an ongoing process. It will be continuously updated and enriched with additional outputs produced by the Urban Agenda for the EU Partnerships.
